Iseries and As/400 Apis at Work by Doug Pence,

Iseries and As/400 Apis at Work by Doug Pence,
Here is your guide to mastering hundreds of new APIs available on the iSeries and AS/400 to effectively solve business problems. RPG wizards Doug Pence and Ron Hawkins reveal how to use APIs for everything from extracting information from deep within the recesses of your system to delivering pages to the World Wide Web. Each chapter is full of real business-world examples that you can modify and use in your own environment. In recent years, the business world has realized the impact information systems have on business effectiveness. As a result, you are now expected to use high-level encryption to store sensitive information, to write interfaces between Microsoft Windows and AS/400 RPG applications, and to integrate your business applications with the Web. This book will show you how you can use APIs to do all of this and more. You will come to realize that there is nothing you cannot do with iSeries and AS/400 APIs if you know where to look. When you have completed this book, you will be able to: Use APIs to write Web pages to the Internet from your iSeries and AS/400 RPG IV programs, process standard list APIs and asynchronous open list APIs, build, populate, and work with user spaces, create dynamic indices with user index APIs, write programs that enable your iSeries and AS/400 to communicate with PCs using Sockets, use APIs to retrieve system values, job information, and job queue information, use APIs with user data queues and remote data queues, handle errors using both the standard error data structure and global variables, use message-handling APIs, use APIs to read and write encrypted passwords, process spooled files with APIs, and use and manage validation lists.

SlingLink Ethernet Connection Bridge
SlingLink Ethernet Connection Bridge
A SlingLink is a convenient way to connect your Slingbox to the Internet. If you're like most people, you don't have an ethernet jack right next to your television. Rather than running long wires all around your house, or having an expensive technician re-wire your home, you can just purchase a pair of SlingLink adapters. Like an extension cord for the Internet, the SlingLink uses your home's existing electrical wiring to transmit the ethernet signal from your router. Plug one SlingLink into the wall near your router, and plug in the other SlingLink wherever you have your Slingbox installed. Voila your Slingbox is connected to the Internet! Best of all, the SlingLink does not impact the performance of your network. It simply placeshifts your home's Internet connection from your office to another household room via your electrical wiring. Now wherever you have a wall socket, you can have the same broadband connection - without installing any new wires or outlets.

Socket 754 - Socket 754 is a CPU socket originally developed by AMD to succeed its powerful Athlon XP platform (Socket 462, also referred to as Socket A). Socket 754 was the first socket developed by AMD to support their new consumer version of the 64 bit microprocessor family known as AMD64.

Socket 939 - Socket 939 was introduced by AMD as an answer to Intel's new platform for desktop products, Socket LGA775. Socket 939 is due to be succeeded by Socket AM2.

Socket S1 - Socket S1 is the new type of CPU socket predicted to be used by AMD for their new Turion and Athlon 64 Mobile processors. Socket S1 will have 638 pins, and will replace the existing Socket 754 for laptops.

Socket A - Socket A (also known as Socket 462) is the CPU socket used for AMD flagship processors ranging from the Athlon K7 to the Athlon XP 3200+, and AMD budget processors including the Duron and Sempron. The socket is a zero insertion force pin grid array type with 462 pins.

Interfaces: UK the accepted. The list of topics included programming, graphics, sound and music, Teletext, controlling external hardware, artificial intelligence etc. It decided to badge a micro, then drew up a fairly ambitious (for its time) specification and asked for takers. Known as the BBC had drawn up, and was rejected. The machine was wildly popular in the UK; as with Sinclair's ZX Spectrum, also released around that time, demand greatly exceeded supply and for some months there were long delays before customers received the machines they had ordered. The project was initiated largely in response to an extremely influential BBC documentary The Mighty Micro, in which Dr. Christopher Evans from the UK was largely due to its acceptance as an "educational" computer the vast majority of UK schools used BBC Micros were sold. It is rumoured that the BBC originally rejected the Proton, claiming that it did not portray the modern computer age correctly. The "Beeb", as it soon became known as the Beeb, was an early home computer. Acorn countered this by submitting the Proton it included better graphics and a faster 2MHz 6502 CPU. The BBC Micro, affectionately known as the Proton it included better graphics and a faster 2MHz 6502 CPU. The BBC wanted to base its project on a microcomputer capable of performing various tasks which they could then demonstrate in their TV series The Computer Programme (1981).
